7 July 1945

This is a very short letter because Jim is about to head to sea for a few weeks. He is disappointed in Margaret for only writing him one letter to his five letters. He even informs Margaret he received three proposals in Boston, yet turned them all down. There you go Jim - give her some motivation to write more.

Something from history - stamped over the postage stamp is a stamp advertising U.S. Savings Bonds.

SERIAL NO. 5
7 July, 1945
My little brat..
This is the one you don't want to get. It is the last one for a few weeks. We are shoving off and I don't know when I will be able to get off another letter. Don't think because you dont hear, that it is because I don't want to write, it's just because I can't. I am disappointed in you. I have had only one letter from you since leaving, and that was nearly two weeks ago. I have written 5 including this one. Maybe you didn't mean what you told me? Maybe you're having too good a time at the beach that you haven't had time to write. Anyway, I have been looking forward to your letters and please write so often even when you don't get an answer for I will enjoy a bunch of letters when we do hit port, ok?

Darling, I wish I had you with me tonight. I sure need you. I don't have time to write a long letter. Tell Milly to write and you do the same. I'll think of you when I'm far out at sea and there will be a lot of things to think about. I have been proposed to three times since I have been back in Boston, but I turned them all down. Guess all I want is you. Wish you were here right now.

Baby, so long for a while. I love you a lot and in a few months I will have you with me. Take care of teh little shrimp for her 'old man' and be sweet as ever. Love and kisses.

Jim
